What Tish Stands For
The Next 4 — Four More Years.
Four Clear Priorities.
What we've built: Tish has worked with the city's cleanup team on weekly cleanups around Pine Bluff, with a focus on Ward 1, identifying problem areas directly from constituents and getting them addressed. She also works hand-in-hand with an active neighborhood watch group that flags issues in the community and joins in monthly cleanup outings.
What's next: A citywide cleanup event on October 3rd, including Ward 1, in partnership with the City of Pine Bluff and Seark College. The Next 4 continues investing in the infrastructure and upkeep that make every Ward 1 neighborhood a place people are proud to call home.
What we've built: This is where Tish has put in some of her deepest work. She authored legislation and a signed MOU halting the construction of new small box or dollar-type stores in Pine Bluff, so the community isn't flooded with more limited-selection stores while the real goal, a full-service grocery store, is still being pursued. She partnered with WellFed to bring a mobile grocery store to the community, completed graduate research comparing food-access solutions from cities across the South, and worked with the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library to expand access to fresh food resources.
What's next: Continuing the push for a full-service grocery store in Pine Bluff and building on this foundation to bring lasting, reliable access to fresh, affordable food into every corner of the ward.
What we've built: Tish created Friends of the First Ward, a first-of-its-kind event honoring the small and minority-owned businesses of Ward 1 — many of them recognized publicly for the first time — and built lasting relationships with them in the process. She regularly patronizes and promotes Ward 1 small businesses and has joined Chamber of Commerce ribbon cuttings to celebrate new openings.
What's next: Growing Friends of the First Ward and deepening support for the entrepreneurs who are the heartbeat of Pine Bluff's economy.
What we've built: What we've built: Tish has brought new partners to the table for Ward 1, including the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library, local high schools for student mentorship programs, TOPPS, Inc. (a nonprofit focused on food giveaways and student mentorship), the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County, local nonprofit agencies, and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Seark College, where she has been invited to speak. She continues to work closely with Six Division Court and community partners on family and youth initiatives. And these partnerships keep growing: increasingly, Tish isn't just invited to speak, she's invited to the table as a collaborator, helping shape how these partnerships grow stronger together.
What's next: Deepening these partnerships and building new ones, including upcoming work with local elementary schools on an Arbor Day event, so that city government, community organizations, and residents keep delivering solutions that actually work.
